NASA Mike led a team of NASA VIPs on a tour of South Pole, McMurdo, and the surrounding area in January, 1997. This led to NASA funding of the South Pole TDRS Relay and NAILS, and the successful implementation of NASA's Long Duration Ballooning in McMurdo.
